Client reviews
A few of the 1,300+ public reviews on my Fiverr profile.
“I hired Marina to translate a full 136,000-word book from English into Spanish, and I genuinely could not be happier with the result. The Spanish reads naturally and fluently, never like a literal translation, while still remaining extremely faithful to the original voice and meaning of the book. She approached the work with a true editorial mindset.”
“Marina is a fantastic translator with a true gift for storytelling. She captured the magic, humor, and charm of my picture book perfectly, adapting cultural expressions with creativity and care. Her translation reads naturally, sparkles with playfulness, and stays beautifully true to the heart of the original.”
“I'm very happy with the translation that I received and feel confident that it was done manually and also carefully proofread for accuracy. I'm a translator myself and would highly recommend this seller to anyone seeking Spanish language work related to medical documents.”
“Marina did an outstanding job translating my book, Parenting in the Digital World, from English to Spanish. She captured not only the meaning of the words but also the tone, clarity, and intent of the message, making it accessible and engaging for Spanish-speaking readers.”
“Marina translated my English rhyming children's book into a Spanish rhyming children's book. Translations of rhymes are very challenging since the rhymes themselves don't translate. I'm very impressed with her bilingual poetic abilities.”
“Actions speak louder than words. This has been our 4th gig with this provider. That alone says enough. With all the different providers out there the fact that we continue to repeat our projects with Marina speaks volumes.”
“I'm THRILLED with Marina M Miguez's work on my 60,000-word eBook manuscript. Her professionalism and proactive communication made the translation process smooth, and she even added a detailed summary of the corrections she made.”
“Marina was an absolute joy to work with. Not only did she provide an excellent product, but she also went above and beyond, offering a separate report that suggested keywords and BISAC subjects in Spanish to help with placement on Amazon.”
“There are some tasks computers cannot do, and for this task, I'm glad I put my trust in Marina's work. She gave me a way more accurate translation than any engine could provide.”
About
Born in Argentina, trained in California, and at my desk every morning translating for readers who deserve a Spanish that sounds like theirs. Four short chapters, scroll on.
The beginning
Before translating full time I was a Spanish teacher at Soaring Eagles, a private high school in California, a math teacher aide for 6th and 7th grade, and a kindergarten teacher. That is where I learned to hear how a sentence lands on a child, a parent or a teacher, and it is still the ear I bring to every text.
I also hold an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Hartnell College (Salinas, California, 2009), which is why business and training content feels as natural to me as a picture book.
Words build worlds
For more than ten years I have translated the daily edition of News-O-Matic into Spanish: every article adapted to several grade reading levels, so the same story works for a seven-year-old and a twelve-year-old, and recorded as the Spanish audio children hear in the app. Thousands of articles, one deadline a day, and a very practical training in clarity.
Found in translation
A postgraduate degree in English to Spanish Translation (Euroinnova International Online Education, Granada, Spain, 2020) gave a formal framework to what a decade of daily practice had taught me: terminology management, register, editorial conventions, and the discipline of a consistent glossary across a 136,000-word book.

Frequently asked questions
Book translation is priced per word, so the quote depends on length, genre and deadline. A rhyming picture book and a 100,000-word novel are very different jobs. Send me the manuscript and you will get word count, price and delivery date in one message, usually within a few hours.
Machine translation is fine for understanding an email. A book is read for pleasure, and readers notice a literal, flat Spanish immediately, in the reviews. I translate every sentence myself, then edit and proofread it, so the rhythm, humor and voice survive. If you already have an AI or draft translation, I also offer editing to bring it up to publishing standard.
Neutral Latin American Spanish, the register that reads naturally in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and the U.S. Hispanic market, following RAE and Fundéu conventions. If your readers are in Spain, tell me and I adapt vocabulary and forms of address.
A clean Spanish file that mirrors your original formatting (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel or InDesign export), a side-by-side bilingual file so you can follow every line, and a short translator's note. For books I add the translated cover text, blurb and a Spanish keyword and BISAC list for Amazon KDP.
Yes, and it is one of my favorite jobs. The rhymes themselves do not translate, so I rewrite each verse in Spanish with the same meter, story and page breaks, and I read every line aloud to check the rhythm before delivery.
Yes. I translate Spanish books, exam guides, school and business documents into natural U.S. English, and I proofread English texts written by Spanish-speaking authors. Most of my work runs into Spanish, so for Spanish to English I quote each project after reading it.
Yes. I was a teacher in California before translating full time, and I have localized training courses for KIA and Samsung, an education deck for Google, and school communications, IEPs and consent forms for U.S. districts. Files are delivered ready for LMS import.
